Matching a font…

font wedding

A couple weeks ago, I was emailed a copy of this font. A stationer had a bride, asking that the calligraphy on her wedding envelopes match the old-fashioned looking font that the invitations would be printed in. Could I do it?? That was the question!

So I printed all the samples she sent me and started to study! I did a lot of practice with my pencil and notebook paper.

I’m usually not a big fan of matching fonts, but I was pleased with how these turned out!

The bride also desired brown ink on her envelopes, which I custom-mixed for her using various tubes of gouache. Creating a particular color is always a fun experiment! The inner envelopes were out of a handmade paper, which caused the ink to bleed a tiny bit. This added to the uniqueness of the job and helped to create more of the vintage feel they were going for.
